This safe, flat, gentle, traffic-free route runs between Cottonmill Lane in St Albans and Wrestlers Bridge in Hatfield. Its smooth surface makes it perfect for all users and there are many access points, most of which are ramped or level.
With magnificent St Albans Cathedral at the start and the elegant Hatfield House at the end, there is lots to see and do along the way. It’s worth pausing on the old railway bridge near the start of the ride for an exceptional view of St Albans Cathedral poking up from among the trees on the skyline.
The Alban Way also acts as a wildlife corridor, providing a safe haven for a range of plants, birds and mammals, so keep your eyes open.
