This short route takes you between two of Bradford’s best open spaces.
Start at City Park, which is a fantastic six-acre park and is home to the largest man-made water feature in any UK city. It also has more than 100 fountains, laser lighting and a mirror pool, making for a spectacular sight. You can also visit the Impressions Gallery which is just next to City Park.
The route follows along traffic-free cycle paths and over the busy Manchester Road using the newly-installed, iconic red bridge which was commissioned by Sustrans, using funding from the BIG lottery.
The route finishes at the 49-acre Bowling Park, which is the perfect place to relax, explore and have a picnic. A large and leafy park, it has great views over the city centre, a free pitch and putt course and designated play area.
You can cross Bowling Hall Road to the north-east of the park and visit Bolling Hall which is now a museum. The Hall dates back to the 14th century and was used as a Royalist base during the English Civil War. The museum is free and a great way to explore Bradford’s heritage – you might even see the 'White Lady' in the Ghost Room!
Once you have enjoyed Bowling Park, retrace your journey back to City Park.
