Route 887 provides a link between the towns of Port Talbot, Cwmafan, and Pontrhydyfen, connecting local people to shops, schools and workplaces.
The route then continues onto Afan Forest Park, creating better access to this popular green space.
Afan Forest Park is tucked away at the top of the Afan Valley and is carved out of the same mountains that the area’s coal mining community once thrived on.
Whilst the mines are now closed, the trails are definitely open and are bringing plenty of life to the area. Afan is one of the UK’s most loved trail centres and has been keeping mountain bikers muddy, worn out and happy for years.
Thanks to the quality and variety of trails it has earned a reputation for being one of the best purpose-built mountain bike centres in the world.
