The route starts at Frinton Golf Club, where you pick up Route 150. This traffic-free route takes you down to The Esplanade and continues along the coast all the way to Jaywick. With magnificent sea views, this route is perfect for novice cyclists because the path is flat, wide and traffic-free.
You can also make a detour into Holland-on-Sea, a pretty seaside town which has a number of churches, independent shops and pubs. On the clifftop is Holland Haven Country Park, which has stunning, coastal grazing marsh and lots of wildlife. In particular, the country park is an important point for Spring and Autumn migrants and is an SSSI due to the rare and varied flora. It's open all year and has bird watching hides and picnic facilities.
Arriving in Clacton, you can admire its long sandy beaches and seafront gardens. You'll also pass its most famous landmark - the 19th century Pier (reputed to be the world's largest) which has rides, amusements, Seaquarium, ten-pin bowling, sea fishing and refreshments. Continuing on Marine Parade, the route arrives in Jaywick.
