The coastal route option traverses the coastal hills with stunning views to the north and out to sea, before dropping to Tywyn, home of the Talallyn Railway.
From there you head out to traverse the hills once again to Machynlleth.
The inland route is more direct but includes a pass that climbs to over 400m above sea level, before descending to the old slate mining villages of Aberllefenni and Corris.
The route also passes the world-renowned Centre for Alternative Technology.
If you are particularly adventurous, why not turn both route options into one large circular. The off-road section of this route is very rough, so a sturdy cycle is recommended there.
