Ways to get involved
Whether you want to help maintain the National Cycle Network, support your local wildlife, or help people in your community be more active, there are all sorts of ways you can make a difference.
There are lots of ways you can get involved with our work, wherever you are in the UK.
You could volunteer to carry out route checks on the National Cycle Network, help record wildlife in your area, or support people in your community to travel more actively.
Or if you're short on time, why not try one of our quick and easy ways to help out?
Whether you can only spare a few hours, or you're looking for regular volunteer work, we'd love to have you on board.
Look after the National Cycle Network
Do you want to help keep your local National Cycle Network route in top condition? Join our volunteers and you could be:
- picking up litter
- cutting back vegetation
- carrying out route checks.
Get involved and help us make the Network safe for everyone to enjoy.
Protect your local wildlife
As a Sustrans wildlife volunteer, you might be:
- helping us keep a record of nature on your local routes
- monitoring wildlife and plant and flower growth
- creating spaces where people can come and learn about nature and conservation.
Volunteer for us and protect the animals and insects that call the Network home.
Promote active travel in your community
Support people in your local area to be more active. You could be:
- helping to teach young people in schools to cycle or scoot
- leading rides or walks
- hosting information stalls to promote Sustrans.
Become a Sustrans volunteer and make a real difference in your local community.
