This route offers a journey through a millennium or two of Anglesey history.
Route 566 begins at Malltraeth, next to the picturesque saltmarshes of Afon Cefni. Nearby along the coast is the national nature reserve Newborough Warren.
The path travels inland and north to reach Llangefni, where you'll be able to explore The Dingle nature reserve.
It continues on to the Llyn Cefni reservoir before reaching National Route 5 at Llanerch-y-medd.
The southern section, which follows Lôn Las Cefni is due to be signed as part of the National Cycle Network very soon.
Lôn Las Copr
At its northern end, Route 566 links up with Lôn Las Copr, or the Copper Trail. Please note that this circular trail is not part of the National Cycle Network.
Along the Lôn Las Copr, you may spot Swtan, the island’s last surviving thatched cottage. Llynnon Mill, the only working windmill in Wales, and the “Copper Kingdom” at Parys Mountain are other spots of interest.
The trail also reaches Cemlyn Nature Reserve, where you'll find a large lagoon separated from the sea by a spectacular, naturally-created shingle ridge. This reserve is home to a wealth of birds, wildflowers and marine creatures making it a delightful place to visit all year round.
