Starting from Didcot railway station, this leisurely ride through rolling countryside offers brilliant views of the Thames Valley.
The route follows a disused railway embankment south of Didcot. It also runs close to the Berkshire Downs, a chalk grassland habitat with some interesting flora and fauna.
Surfaces vary along the route, but are designed for easy riding throughout.
Most of the route is virtually traffic-free; on a combination of public bridleways, byways, footpaths and private tracks, with the remainder on quiet country lanes. There is one significant climb at Hagbourne Hill.
Along the way you will see a series of artworks reflecting the surrounding landscape. Local artists have worked with students from nearby schools and colleges to create these innovative sculptures.
Route diversion
There is a route closure at Harwell Campus due to ongoing decommissioning work. There is a diversion in place and the estimated finish date is 2022.
