Valued across Sustrans

Xavier Brice, Chief Executive of Sustrans said:

“We’re delighted to hear the news that our Chair of Trustees, Lynne Berry has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and has been awarded a CBE for her services to civil society and charity.

“As the former chair of Breast Cancer Now and a former chief executive of the Charity Commission, Lynne brought wide experience of the charitable sector when she joined Sustrans as chair in 2017.

"She has led efforts to focus the charity on its impact; ensuring we continue to make more of difference to people’s lives across the UK.

"Walking and cycling are playing an important role in helping people make safer, everyday journeys and access the great outdoors.

"As a charity that cherishes volunteering, Lynne’s award is valued right across Sustrans."

Coming together for the common good

Lynne Berry CBE said:

"I feel very honoured to receive this award, especially as it’s for my contribution to civil society and charity.

"The charities I’ve worked with such as Sustrans, Breast Cancer Now or Welsh National Opera, all share a commitment to being there for everyone and to supporting people to thrive whether through active travel, medical research and clinical care or by transporting people to a world of creativity and imagination.

"And more than anything they are about doing things together for the common good."
