Improving the route between Horspath and Littleworth

This is a community engagement and design project close to Oxford.

It seeks to improve the issues that sometimes arise on the 1.5 mile stretch of National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 57 between Horspath and Littleworth.

In Horspath, the route becomes on-road, which can be dangerous with traffic travelling through the village.

Along Gidley Way and into Littleworth, the route is more rural, but there can be high traffic speeds.

Current works

After setting up the project in March 2024, we prepared for our first engagement. These were held at Horspath school pick up time and in Horspath village hall in late May 2024.

We presented maps of the project route with proposed interventions, such as a crossing near to the village green bend and Quiet Lane signage on Gidley way.

We received a lot of feedback that we are taking forward in our outline designs, which are currently in progress.

Upcoming events

The outline designs will be completed at the end of Summer 2024 and shared in a simplified visual format on this website by the 23 September 2024.

We are planning to hold another community engagement event in late September 2024, asking the community to give feedback to our outline designs.

We are also planning to meet members of Wheels for Wellbeing for feedback on our designs in terms of accessibility.

We will then take this feedback into our final detailed designs, which we are aiming to complete by the end of 2024.
